Just be yourself...

Comic lands movie role - as a comic

Stand-up Paul Chowdhry has landed a role in the new John Malkovich movie... as a stand-up comic.

The comic will be performing some of his routines in the film Colour Me Kubrick, which tells the story of a real-life fraudster who posed as legendary director Stanley Kubrick despite looking nothing like him.

The film also stars Jim Davidson, Leslie Phillips, Ken Russell and Robert Powell.

Chowdhry, who will be shooting his scenes in London this week, said: " During initial meetings, I was up for a role in the movie.

"But when the director Brian Cook came out to watch me perform stand-up he decided to he would like me to play myself, performing some of my routines, instead."

Meanwhile, comic Steve Jameson has also landed a movie role.

He plays Leo Spencer in the forthcoming British romantic comedy Suzie Gold, which is being billed as "My Big Fat Jewish Wedding".

Summer Phoenix, Rebecca Front and former S Club 7 singer Rachel Stevens also have roles in the £10million film, which is released on March 7.
