The same old favourites
The four best comedy moments from last year's TV have been named.
But the shows they are from are all old favourites - with nothing from such acclaimed programmes as The Office or Little Britain.
Producers of BBC1's 2003 TV Moments have instead chonse scenes from Only Fools and Horses, Smack The Pony, My Family and Absolutely Fabulous.
Viewers will be invited to vote for their favourite of the four in an award show hosted by Jonthan Ross on January 31.
As well as comedy, there are six other categories, including best entertainment moment.
In the running for that are Ant and Dec disguising themselves as American Pop Idol contestants for their Saturday Takeaway; Bruce Forsyth hosting Have I Got News For You; Johnny Vaughan guesting on The Kumars At Number 42, and Jonathan Ross impersonating interviewee Craig David.
For comedy, the four shortlisted moments, as described by the show's publicity blurb, are:
Only Fools and Horses: Del Boy and Rodney inadvertently smuggle someone across from France in the back of Denzel's van. They try and pass him off as a friend of Rodney's called Gary. It doesn't take long for Raquel and Cassandra to work out that they are lying, especially as the only word their new friend can say is Gary!
Smack the Pony: Sarah Alexander and Sally Phillips are saying goodbye to one another on the doorstep. Darren Boyd is all over Sarah Alexander and seems oblivious to the conversation until he is told it is time to leave by Phillips.
My Family: Ben decides to have a heart to heart talk with his youngest son Mike and asks him to tell him what's on his mind. Mike does exactly that, but it wasn't quite what Ben had in mind.
Absolutely Fabulous: Jeanette Krankie is the midwife explaining to a pregnant Saffy what she can expect when she goes into labour.
