Gervais the Messiah

Ricky is Jesus in art parody

You could never accuse him of false modesty, and now Ricky Gervais has been portrayed as Jesus.

He appears alongside the rest of The Office cast in a parody of The Last Supper, created for the British Comedy Awards.

And as well as bread and wine, the table also depicts Gareth's stapler encased in jelly, as featured in the series.

The paintings will be sold for cancer charities after Wednesday's award ceremony is broadcast live on ITV1.

In another, Ant and Dec are portrayed as camp princes holding hands and wearing tight pants in a spoof of John Everett Millais's The Princes Edward and Richard in the Tower.

Other paintings feature Jonathan Ross, Johnny Vegas, Phoenix Nights, Stephen Fry, Jo Brand, and the Cold Feet cast.

The auction will also feature other comedy memorabilia including a Bubbles outfit from Absolutely Fabulous, one of Harry Hill's trademark shirts and a Dad's Army script signed by the writers.

Items are expected to go for at least £500 each. Call 08712 44 2525 to make a bid.
