Popper goes off

C4 exec leaves for BBC2 comedy

Channel 4's comedy commissioning editor Robert Popper has quit to work on his BBC2 show Look Around You.

The spoof ten-minute educational programme, which has been nominated for a Bafta and a British Comedy Award, has been recommissioned for six half-hour episodes.

Popper, who wrote and produced the comedy with Peter Serafinowicz, will leave Channel 4 at the end of this month, MediaGuardian reports.

His credits in his three years there have included Bo Selecta!, Black Books and Spaced.

Channel 4 director of programmes Kevin Lygo said: "We'll miss him but this was too good an opportunity for him to pass up."

The second series of Look Around You will air on BBC2 next year.

Popper has also just written a short film, Hello Friend, with Father Ted co-creator Graham Linehan.
