BBC2 buys Wayans' hit US sitcom

BBC2 has bought Damon Wayans' award-winning US sitcom My Wife And Kids.

The show won last year's People's Choice Award for favourite new comedy series and was ABC's top-rated sitcom last season.

It will help plug a gap in BBC2's early-evening schedule from next year, following the loss of The Simpsons to Channel 4.

Tom Toumazis,of Buena Vista Television, said: "My Wife And Kids is a show with great international appeal, we are sure that BBC2's viewers will enjoy the series just as much."

BBC2 controller, Jane Root said: "This popular and entertaining family comedy has been a great success in the USA and we believe it will be a real asset to the BBC2 early evening schedule."
