Izzard smashes records

Sexie tour a 98 per cent sell-out

Eddie Izzard's autumn tour is breaking box office records at some of Britain's biggest venues.

Just two per cent of seats in his Sexie tour have not been sold, matching similar success in North America.

Although acts including Baddiel and Skinner and Lee Evans have played occasional arena dates, Izzard is the first stand-up to play a full tour of them.

His dates include Manchester Arena, Birmingham NIA, Glasgow's SECC, Cardiff International Arena and Wembley Arena all of which have sold out.

Tour producer Mark Rubinstein told trade newspaper The Stage: "I don't think there is anybody else that can do that.

"He has not done stand-up for four years so we wondered whether they were going to come to see him in large venues. Yes, is the answer. He is a superstar."

The tour kicks off in Eastbourne on November 10, winding up at Wembley at Christmas. (Dates)
