Woody eyes Perrier winner
Perrier-winner Demetri Martin has auditioned for a role in the next Woody Allen movie.
The 30-year-old American is understood to have met the director in Paris this month to discuss the part.
He told the university newspaper at Yale, where he dropped out of a law degree to pursue his comedy career: "You get five random minutes with Woody Allen, and the path unfolds before you if you just start walking."
The audition is just one of several opportunities to come his way since winning the £7,500 prize at the Edinburgh fringe for his If I... show , which demonstrated a range of his useless talents, from palindrome-writing to unicycling.
He is filming a half-hour Comedy Lab show for Channel 4 next month, is in talks with the BBC about a TV pilot and is to record a Comedy Central special in the States this autumn.
Martin has also been offered a coveted writer's job on NBC's Late Night With Conan O'Brien - but if he took it the long hours would severely hamper his performing career.
He is appearing at the Soho Theatre from November 3 to 6. Click here to buy tickets.
