Vic and Bob's new sitcom

Work starts on six-part comedy

Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer are making their first sitcom.

The pair will play well-meaning but idiotic social club workers Chris and Carl in the new show, which will be called Catterick.

The characters were first created for Vic and Bob's 1999 sketch show Bang Bang: It's Reeves And Mortimer.

In the new six-part series, the pair will scour the country in search of Carl's son.

Comic Mark Benton, who plays a range of characters including a jazz fusion DJ, told Teletext: "It sounds mad but it works.

"It's like a road movie over six episodes. I've seen the script and some of it's so bizarre, but Vic and Bob are geniuses."

Reeves and Mortimer have recently filmed roles in the forthcoming comedy film Churchill: The Hollywood Years.
