Golden Carrott

Jasper is British TV's richest comic

Jasper Carrott has been named the richest comedian in British TV.

The comic is worth £14million, thanks to his stake in production company Celador, which makes Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?

Carrott's fortune makes him the fourth wealthiest celebrity in the industry rich list, compiled by Broadcast magazine

But he comes a long way behind the richest celebrity, Pop Idol judge Simon Cowell, worth an estimated £30m.

Chris Evans is second with £25m, and Jamie Oliver fourth with £15m.

Carrott is followed by Jennifer Saunders and Adrian Edmondson, worth £10m

Rory Bremner, Steve Coogan and Jonathan Ross, each worth £7m, come in at joint sixth among the celebrities. Graham Norton is tenth with £5million.

Excluded from the list are comics Tracey Ulman, whose wealth was put at £75m last year, and Rowan Atkinson (£35m) as their fortunes were not made in British TV.
