Sir Norman to play randy old man

Sir Norman Wisdom is to star in a new ITV drama as a randy old man

The 88-year-old comic will be a key part of the six-part series Between The Sheets, which revolves around sex.

He will star alongside Brenda Blethyn and Royle Family actress Liz Smith in the show, currently being filmed in Yorkshire and expected to air this autumn.

Writer Kay Mellor, who was also responsible for Band Of Gold, said: "Between The Sheets is a no-holds barred, frank exploration about heterosexuality in the twenty-first century."

Wisdom has increasingly been taking more serious dramatic roles, including a recent appearance in BBC1's Casualty .
