Comic admits selling drug kit

Tommy Chong, of dope-smoking comedy duo Cheech and Chong is facing a five-year jail term after admitting selling drug paraphernalia over the Internet.

The comic actor, 64, pleaded guilty to conspiring to sell marijuana pipes that he endorsed, both on the web and at live appearances.

A Pittsburgh court has released him on $20,000 bond until sentencing on September 11,

Although the maximum term is five years in prison and a $250,000 fine, prosecutors say the actual penalty is likely to be more lenient.

He was accused of using his website www.tommychong.com. to sell thousands of pipes and bongs after a raid on his California home in February.

Chong's double-act partner, meanwhile, is starring in the American remake of the Kumars, as father Henry Ortega.
