Comics turn designers for charity

American sitcom Just Shoot Me has been axed amid appalling ratings.

The NBC network has pulled the show midway through its current, seventh series for a collection of programmes including The Most Outrageous Game Show Moments 4.

But the decision has provoked a furious response from producers of the comedy, set in a magazine office and aired on the Paramount Comedy Channel in the UK.

Executive producer Steve Levitan blamed NBC for welshing on promises to promote the show, and guarantees that the series would run its course. Thirteen completed episodes have now been shelved, unaired.

Levitan told CNN: "It's a real slap in the face to the show. If they're going to toss you aside for Game Show Moments, where's the integrity and dignity in this business?"

Just Shoot me has lost two-thirds of its audience over the last year, and has been airing at 8pm on Tuesdays.
