Triumph of Hope
Bob Hope has been named Hollywood's citizen of the century in a star-studded bash to mark his 100th birthday.
A plaque heralding the London-born star's status was unveiled on the Walk Of Fame - but one person not present was Hope himself.
His family said he was relaxing at home, preparing for his centernary on May 29.
Daughter Linda said: "He has made an awful lot of people laugh since he started in his 20s. He has been absolutely compulsive when it comes to laughter."
Veteran entertainer Phyllis Diller, who has worked alongside Hope, said: "No one will ever touch Bob Hope's history in our business.
