Movie roles for Vic and Bob

Duo to star in Churchill spoof

Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer are to star in a Hollywood movie.

They are to play bumbling footmen who save the Royal family from Hitler in the spoof comedy Churchill: The Hollywood Years.

The film stars Christian Slater and Neve Campbell, with Miranda Richardson, Anthony Sher, Leslie Phillips and Harry Enfield also taking roles.

Its plot is about US movie moguls rewriting history because the fat, cigar-chomping Churchill is not the sort of hero they want for their biography. Slater is thus drafted in to play the PM as a more virile, younger character.

It is redolent of the Comic Strip movie Strike!, which imagined Hollywood casting Al Pacino as Arthur Scargill in a version of the miners' strike rewritten so the workers triumphed.

Churchill: The Hollywood Years is currently filming in the Isle Of Man.
