BBC confirms new medical sitcom

Adrian Edmondson is to star in a new BBC1 medical comedy, conroller Lorraine Heggessey has confirmed

Doctors and Nurses will centre on the love-hate relationship between two orthopaedic surgeons on the Isle of Wight.

The series, due to start in the autumn, is written by Nigel Smith and Dr Phil Hammond, pictured.

BBC1 also announced another new comedy, Eternal Rectangle, starring Amanda Holden and Jamie Theakston as a separated couple who still see each other because of their nine-year-old son.

Last of the Summer Wine and My Family have also been recommissioned.
