Simpsons shun Beckham

'He's not famous enough'

David Beckham has been shunned by The Simpsons because he's not famous enough.

Executive producer Al Jean said they had considered asking the England star to make a cameo appearance in the animated show, but then had second thoughts.

"We thought about Becks, but he's not really famous enough," he said. "We didn't ask.

"I've heard of him because my daughter plays soccer."

Beckham would have appeared in an edition of the show in which the family travel from Springfield to London.

Stars who do get to appear include Harry Potter creator JK Rowling, who Lisa meets in a bookstore.
