They know it's all over

Lineker and Gower quit sports quiz

Gary Lineker and David Gower have quit They Think It's All Over.

The BBC says the two team captains are leaving the series after eight years by "mutual consent".

Now producers are looking for replacements for when the comedy sports quiz returns in the autumn.

Jon Holmes, who manages both of the stars, said: "Gary and David have been delighted to be part of such a successful series and wish the show every success in the future."

However, Lineker has reportedly complained that the show has become too tired.

The Sun today quotes an unnamed friend as saying: "Gary wants to move into other projects and is looking for something else to do.

"He has had a great time working on the show, but believes it has run its course after eight years and 15 series. He thinks it is time to go."
