Vegas gets some class

Evening school sitcom set for TV

Johnny Vegas is to transfer his Radio 4 sitcom Night Class to TV.

The comic wrote and starred in the semi-autobiographical series about an alcoholic entertainer who winds up teaching pottery to a group of misfits in evening school.

It first aired last August, and BBC bosses were so impressed they have earmarked a £300,000 budget to transfer it to the screen.

The show is still in its early stages, but the BBC is said to be "very excited" about it.

It was billed as "a dark and painful comedy about loss, failure, alcoholism, loathing, desperation, loneliness and other humorous subjects".
