The Office smashes records
The Office set new records for DVD and video sales in the run-up to Christmas.
A total of 1,024,386 copies of the first series have been sold since its release on October 14 - 630,000 of them on DVD.
The figures make it the fastest selling non-film DVD, as well as the first such DVD to sell more than 500,000 copies.
The combined VHS and DVD sales also make it is the best-selling TV title in the UK ever.
BBC Worldwide's chief executive Rupert Gavin said Christmas sales had been "superb", with other best-sellers including I'm Alan Partridge, Delia's Vegetarian Collection and Life of Mammals.
He said: "The cross-format success of The Office is particularly stunning, surpassing even our own high expectations."
