Rivers faces police inquiry
Police are investigating a complaint against Joan Rivers after a run-in with a car hire clerk.
The worker, named only as a Ms Santana, filed the complaint after exchanging angry words with the comedian at Dollar rent-a-car on Manhattan's Upper East Side.
She claims Rivers threw a marker pen at her, bruising her eye - an allegation the comic's people vehemently deny.
A spokeswoman told New York's 7 Eyewitness News: "The clerk was not being nice to Joan. In typical Joan Rivers fashion, she did not stand for that, and the two exchanged words. In no way was there any sort of physical confrontation."
The channel could not track down Santana at her Bronx apartment.
CCTV cameras inside the rental agency could help the police with their investigation.
