Comedies vie for Broadcast award

The Office and Phoenix Nights will again go head-to-head in a TV awards contest.

Both shows have been shortlist for best comedy in the Broadcast awards, to be handed out on January 29.

At last weekend's British Comedy Awards, The Office and Ricky Gervais triumphed in the best comedy and best actor category, with Peter Kay taking the writer's award for Phoenix Nights, which also won the People's Choice accolade.

Also nominated for the Broadcast Award are The Book Group, The League Of Gentlemen and Linda Green.

Pub Landlord Al Murray's Sky One sitcom Time Gentleman Please also made the shortlist for best multichannel programme, against Age Of Terror (Discovery Channel), The Falklands Play (BBC4), Fear Factor (Sky One) and Liquid News (BBC Choice).
