Comedy heroes boost C5 Xmas line-up

Channel Five has turned to a raft of comedy greats to bolster its Christmas schedules.

Tommy Cooper, Morecambe and Wise and the Carry On team are all making unlikely comebacks on the station, recently rebranded Five.

Its Boxing Day line-up has been branded as nostalgia night, and features Tommy Cooper's Christmas, the Morecambe and Wise Show, Carry On Christmas and Stanley Baxter's Christmas Box.

Other comedy highlights of the festive season include a Christmas night tribute to Peter Cook and Dudley Moore's foul-mouthed creations Derek and Clive on Channel 4; a Peter Cook night on BBC2 including the documentary At A Slight Angle To The Universe; and yuletide specials of BBC1 bankers Only Fools and Horses, Alastair McGowan and Absolutely Fabulous.
