People's choice shortlist announced

Alistair McGowan, The Office, Phoenix Nights and Cold Feet are all up for another British Comedy Award.

They have been announced as the contenders for the People's Choice award, decided by TV viewers right up to the night of the ceremony.

Readers of Heat magazine chose the shortlist, comprising one programme from each terrestrial channel. Channel 5's International King of Sports completes the line-up.

My Family, Room 101, The Frank Skinner Show, V. Graham Norton and Live With Chris Moyles were all thrown out by the magazine poll.

The winner will be announced at the awards, hosted by Jonathan Ross, on ITV on December 14.
