Ringing in the viewers

Impressions show a ratings hit

The TV version of Dead Ringers got off to a flying start in the ratings war last night.

Around 3.7 million viewers turned into the sketch show, starring impressionists Jon Culshaw (pictured), Jan Ravens and Phil Cornwell.

According to unofficial overnight figures, 15 per cent of the audience were tuned in between 9pm and 9.30pm.

It even attracted more viewers than the much-anticipated second series of I'm Alan Partridge, which was seen by 3.5 million people.

This is an increase of 100,000 on last week's opening episode - and more than twice as many viewers as Channel 4's V Graham Norton, on at the same time.

The other programme in BBC2's Comedy Zone, the medical comedy tlc also fared respectably, with an audience of 3.2million .
