John to host Have I Got News For You

ITN political correspondent John Sergeant is to host the next edition of Have I Got News for You.

The veteran broadcaster will be take over the role made vacant after Angus Deayton was fired last month.

Sergeant, whose ITN contract expires at the end of the year, has been tipped as a permanent replacement for Deayton.

But the BBC are trying out a different guest host for each of the remaining four episodes in this series.

The show is not on this week because of the Children In Need telethon, but returns next Friday.
