R4 debut for comic's play

Scottish stand-up Brian Hennigan will have his first Radio 4 play broadcast next week.

A Table For St Bernard tells of a food writer intent on creating the greatest meal of all time as revenge on his ex-wife, TV's favourite culinary face.

Starring Jimmy Chisholm, Hennigan's half-hour play goes out at 11.30am on Monday.

The comic, a self-confessed "foodie", is also in the running for the £6,000 Macallan/Scotland on Sunday short story competition.

His tale The Selkirk Oscillation is one of six finalists on the shortlist, from which the winner will be announced on November 26.

Hennigan's first comic novel, P atrick Robertson - A Tale Of Adventure, was published in 2000. Click here to buy.
