Perrier newcomers land radio show

The winners of this year's Perrier best newcomers' award have landed a radio show.

The Consultants sketch team, of Neil Edmond, Justin Edwards and James Rawlings, are to record a pilot for Radio 4 next month, If successful, the lads hope to have a series early next year.

Edmond said that working for radio offered new challenges.

He told Chortle: "I mainly pull faces on stage, but now I am having to learn to pull my voice.

"Luckily, we had at least four ideas for the stage show that we couldn't do without a very large budget or an audience of blind people. Now we can finally do our Giant Robot Wars sketch. And the one with the expensive hat.

"We're planning something fairly perky and upbeat, in an ugly way.

Rawlings added: "The BBC is a fantastic place to work. There are so many distractions that a whole week will pass and all you've done is argue over who in the BBC email address book has the funniest name. It's Humbert Moule."

The pilot will be taped in London's Drill Hall on November 25.

Free tickets are available from the BBC ticket office on 020 8576 1227 or by emailing radio.ticket.unit@bbc.co.uk
