Skinner drives Dave to shed sideburns

Dave Gorman has shaved off his trademark sideburns because he got fed up of Frank Skinner questioning him about them.

The comic took out a razor as Skinner broached the subject on his chat show, recorded last night.

He shaved half of his face, so he could compare the two profiles - with or without sideburns.

Gorman - whose Important Astrology Experiment is currently running on BBC2 - took the drastic action after becoming exasperated by the attention his facial furniture received.

An insider on Skinner's show said: "Frank was quite taken aback, because it's usually him who's in control of what goes on in the interview.

"Dave walked out the studio with just one sideburn - it was quite bizarre."

Gorman has shaved his sideburns off before, for a role in the Steve Coogan film 24 Hour Party People, about the Manchester music scene of the Eighties.

The incident will be shown on the Frank Skinner show at 9.50pm tonight on ITV1.
