Plaques honour Hancock cast

Tony Hancock, Sid James and Hattie Jacques have been honoured with blue plaques.

Comic Heritage unveiled the tributes to the Hancock's Half Hour cast at BBC Broadcasting House in central London.

Around 140 people attended the ceremony, including Dad's Army star Clive Dunn and Sid's widow, Val.

Hancock's Half Hour, which started on the radio in 1954, became a template for sitcoms, with writers Ray Galton and Alan Simpson creating such classic episodes as The Radio Ham and The Blood Donor.

The plaques will go on display in the BBC Radio Theatre once a major refit of the Broadcasting House studio is completed.
