Wisty galore
The comic genius of Peter Cook is to be remembered in a star-studded West End tribute later this month.
Michael Palin, Harry Enfield and Vic Reeves are among the comedy stars who will honour Cook in the 'Post-Humorous' tribute.
Others include David Baddiel, Alan Davies, Angus Deayton, Rik Mayall and Adrian Edmondson.
The night will be hosted by Sir David Frost, who collaborated with Cook on shows such as That Was The Week That Was early in his career.
But there was no love lost between Cook and Frost. Peter dubbed Frost 'the bubonic plagiarist' and said his biggest regret was saving him from drowning.
And he once declined an invitation to dinner with Frost, Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson by taking great pains to consult his diary, then concluding: "I find I'm watching television that night."
The event at the Prince Of Wales Theatre is being directed by Terry Jones and will raise funds for The Peter Cook Foundation.
Also in the line-up of comedy stars are Sanjeev Bhaskar, Phil Cornwell, Jon Culshaw, Neil Innes, Dom Joly, Josie Lawrence, Griff Rhys-Jones, John Sessions and Mel Smith.
It takes place on Sunday September 29, and tickets are priced £50 to £75. Click here to buy them.
