Female comics stage cancer benefit

A host of female comics, including Jenny Eclair, Mel and Sue (pictured above at the launch), Morwenna Banks and Maureen Lipman are to take part in a high-profile breast cancer benefit.

The Funny Women gig will also include performances from Dannii Minogue, Twiggy, Nina Wadia, Cat Deeley - and Debbie McGee.

Described as "an unprecedented event", the show takes place at the Palace Theatre in London's West End on October 13.

Proceeds will go to Breast Cancer Care and the Breast Cancer Campaign.

A spokesman said: "A fantastic cast of celebrated women from stage and screen will perform an array of comical sketches and stand-up punctuated by musical interludes in this unprecedented event."

Others taking part include Jo Enright, Jane Horrocks, Prunella Scales, Rula Lenska, Shazia Mirza and Nerys Hughes.
