St Trinian's movies to be revivied

Ealing Studios is planning to resurrect the classic St Trinian's comedies.

Rupert Everett is being lined up for the headmistress role originally made famous by Alastair Sim in the Fifties.

And producers say they would love Kylie Minogue to play one of the schoolgirls.

The film-makers intend to update the films, but stay true to the original stories.

Ealing owner Barnaby Thompson told industry website Screedaily.com: "We are going to have a lot of fun with it.

"We won't have to change that much - it'll be a rundown boarding school only in 2002, so the essential set up is exactly the same" Thompson said.

"The changes will be more in terms of the tone, giving it a more contemporary view of the world."

Everett is starring in the next film out of Ealing - a new version of Oscar Wilde's The Importance Of Being Earnest.

The studios, in west London, are currently undergoing a £50million revamp to re-establish their reputation for British comedy films.
