You dirty old man

Steptoe star's seedy life

Steptoe and Son star Wilfred Brambell lusted after teenage boys and was once caught cottaging in public toilets, a new TV documentary claims.

The actor - who played Albert - regularly flew to Hong Kong to trawl gay bars and attend seedy boat parties, according to the programme.

And vice squad officers once caught him cottaging in toilets near the BBC headquarters in Shepherds Bush, West London.

Channel 4's When Steptoe Met Son portrays Brambell as a drink-sodden loner who loathed co-star Harry H Corbett.

Brambell died of cancer aged 75 in 1985.
