Spies like her
Spaced star Jessica Stevenson is to write and star in a new family movie.
She has landed a deal to make Double Au Pair, a comedy about a nanny spy.
Chris Godsick, vice-president of production with New Line Cinema, said:
"We think we've tapped into an undiscovered gem who can become a worldwide star.
"When I was an agent, I represented Rowan Atkinson and other UK talent," he told trade website Screendaily. "So when I moved to New Line about a year ago, I told them that we should be looking at the UK as an untapped marketplace.
"On my first trip, someone gave me a copy of Spaced and I liked it so much I requested the second season. On my next trip back, I met with the team and started talking to Jessica. She settled on the idea for Double Au Pair."
In the film, Stevenson will play the au pair of the British ambassador, who takes his children on a real-life espionage adventure. Most of the action takes place in the US.
Stevenson, who is also a regular on The Royle Family, recently starred opposite Ray Winstone in The Night Heron on the West End.
