Fyffe loses cancer battle

Hinge and Bracket star Patrick Fyffe has died, aged 60.

He had been battling cancer since Christmas.

Fyffe played Dame Hilda Bracket in the hugely successful drag act, formed at the 1974 Edinburgh Fringe.

His partnership with George Logan ­ Dr Evadne Hinge ­ spawned several TV specials and the weekly sitcom Dear Ladies, which ran from 1983 to 1984.

Fyffe also made several solo appearances as Dame Hilda, including roles in The Mikado and The Pirates Of Penzance.
