Big and Daft land weekly show

Comedy team Big and Daft have landed a weekly radio show on BBC London.

Ian Boldsworth, Rob Rouse and Jon Williams will be presenting a two-hour programme every Saturday.

It's part of a shake-up of schedules on the station, which also sees Danny Baker take over the 6am to 9am weekday breakfast show from Monday.

Big and Daft's secured their show following a successful run over Christmas.

Boldsworth said: "After making a decision not to perform together on stage last year, it has been brilliant to be offered this opportunity.

"It just goes to show that when unknowns are actually given a chance, rather than using the safe option, they can often prove themselves worthy of greater things."

He said that the show - which runs from noon to 2pm - will feature "dodgy competitions" and quirky Londoners as guests. His northern club comic character Ray Peacock will be reviewing films, and a new character Tommy Nurse - the BBC London cleaner - will make an appearance each week.

Boldsworth added: "Myself and Rob will also attempt to break our one minute kissing record which currently stands at 74 kisses."

Other changes to the station - which is on 94.9FM or can be heard on the internet here - include Jo Brand gaining an extra hour on her Sunday shows, which will now start at 10am, and Mel and Sue moving their Saturday show to Sundays from 12.30am to 3pm.
