Hislop pens No 10 comedy

THE BBC is planning a new comedy show set in 10 Downing Street.

Private Eye editor Ian Hislop (pictured) and Sunday Times cartoonist Nick Newman have co-written the programme, tentatively called My Dad's The Prime Minister.

It is based around a fictional 'first family', from the point of view of the Premier's 11-year-old son Dillon.

But some scenes echo reality - in one scene Dillon asks the Treasury for help with maths, and Cherie Blair once asked the Ministry of Defence for information on nuclear weapons to help her son Euan, 18, at school.

Cold Feet's Robert Bathurst has been tipped to play the Prime Minister .

The BBC described the programme, expected to be screened next year, as "Yes Minister meets Grange Hill".
