Laugh at the asylum folk

Showcase for refugees' talents

Refugee comics will be on the bill at a showcase of asylum-seeking performers at the Theatre Royal Stratford East.

Up to 40 acts will take part in the March 24 event, designed to celebrate the diversity and talents of artists who are seeking refuge in Britain.

Musicians, poets, singer and dancers will also be on the variety bill for the first show in the newly refurbished East London building.

A theatre spokesman said: "It will be an evening of entertainment for the whole family to enjoy."

For tickets, priced from £3, call 020 8534 0310.

The theatre is still looking for professional refugee artists who have performed in their home country to join the line-up. Email Kilian Gideon at the theatre.
