Mirza lands White Teeth role

Jeff Mirza has landed a part in Channel 4's adaptation of White Teeth.

The comic is to play Mo, the pigeon-hating halal butcher, in the series based on Zadie Smith's bestselling novel.

Filming is now under way on location in London, and the programme is set to air in the autumn.

Mirza said: "I am absolutely delighted to have landed the role."

Fellow comic and MTV presenter Russell Brand also has a part in the four-part mini-series.

The award-winning book tells the story of three families in multi-racial London, spanning three generations.
