Poll for TV's best female comedy stars

The Paramount Comedy Channel has launched a poll to find the funniest woman on TV.

It is inviting readers to vote for the best female characters from its regular line-up via its website

And the top 20 will form the line-up for the channel's women's weekend on April 6 and 7.

Among those in the running are The Sex And The City girls, Seinfeld's Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Roseanne Barr, Cybil Shepherd and Frasier's Jane Leeves, who recently became the highest-paid British actress.

The poll, and weekend's programming, is to mark Imperial Cancer Research's Race For Life initiative, which aims to millions through women-only sports events.

Every vote submitted is also entered into a prize draw for a trip to Paramount Studios in Hollywood.
