Izzard relishes Egg role

West End revival for BBC4

Eddie Izzard is to revive his role in A Day In The Death Of Joe Egg for the BBC.

The play is to be filmed for the corporation's new digital arts channel BBC Four.

It will feature the same cast as its recent successful West End revival, including Izzard, Victoria hamilton and Prunella Scales. (Review)

The play, written by Peter Nichols in 1967, tells of a couple who share a bleak sense of humour to help them cope with the needs of their severely handicapped 10-year-old daughter.

It will be shown on BBC4 at 9pm on Wednesday March 13.
