Stand-up 'beats movies'
American comic Janeane Garofalo says she prefers stand-up to movies.
Garofalo's credits include The Truth About Cats And Dogs, Mystery Men, Dogma and, on TV, crabby guest booker Paula on The Larry Sanders Show.
But she's always kept performing her stand-up act.
"I've been doing comedy consistently since I started doing stand-up in 1985," she said. "I always prefer to do stand-up than acting. Movies are a director's medium, not an actor's medium."
And the 37-year-old has just started making jokes about the politics surrounding the September 11 terrorist attacks, CNN reports.
"I talk about current events as they unfold about it. Obviously, it's been a little while, so now I'm more on to more domestic and foreign policy things and Enron - you know, things of that nature," she said.
