Brass wins gold

Satire wins TV industry award

Brass Eye's special on paedophilia has won the comedy prize at this year's Broadcast awards.

The Channel 4 show, which attracted 1,500 complaints, took the title ahead of shortlisted shows The Royle Family, Coupling, My Family and Peter Kay's Phoenix Nights.

So Graham Norton won the best light entertainment award, and Banzai was named best new programme.

A full list of winners is available at Broadcast's industry website Produxion

Brass Eye is also a contender for the title of best comedy at the 2001 South Bank Awards, to be handed out next month.
