Comedians start here
Two London comedy clubs have announced details of their 2002 new act competitions.
The Amused Moose Soho and Laughing Horse contests are seen as stepping stones to bigger things
Last year's Amused Moose winner, Rob Deering (pictured), performed in the high-profile Comedy Zone event every night at the Edinburgh festival, and 2000 runner-up Andy Zaltzman was nominated for the Perrier best newcomer award this year.
Heats, which start in January, are judged by promoters, bookers, agents, managers, reviewers and television and radio producers.
Aspiring comedians who wish to enter should e-mail the Amused Moose or call 020 8341 1341.
This is only the second year of the Laughing Horse competition, which has a £200 prize plus a slot in the club's proposed Edinburgh showcase.
Heats will be held at its six London venues in January, with the final taking place on February 10. Judges at the final will include alternative stand-up pioneer Tony Allen, Time Out comedy editor Malcolm Hay, and Chortle's Steve Bennett.
To enter, call Alex at the Laughing Horse Comedy Club on 07796 171190 or
email the club.
