Comic readings for charity

A host of comedians are to read their favourite funny book passages as part of a Comic Relief fundraiser.

Radio Two is hosting the week-long series of programmes The Funniest Thing I Ever Heard.

Josie Lawrence reads from Bridget Jones's Diary, David Baddiel from Lucky Baby Jesus, written by his Baddiel's Syndrome co-star Peter Bradshaw, Mel and Sue read the short story Mrs Chococlate form the Adventure Book For Girls, Arthur Smith an extract from London Fields and Neil Pearson from Tony Hawkes's travelogue Around Ireland With A Fridge

Choices from John Sessions, Martin Jarvis, Jenny Eclair and Ian Hislop were broadcast before Red Nose Day in April.

A compilation of all 10 readings is now available on BBC Worldwide, priced £9.99, with £2 going towards the charity.
