Lumley's new comedy

Joanna stars in dark monologues

Joanna Lumley is to star in her own BBC2 comedy series.

The Absolutely Fabulous actress will appear in a series of six darkly comic ten-minute monologues called Up Town.

She will play a beautiful woman from the Home Counties who still believes that the husband who abandoned her 25 years ago will one day return.

The show is written by Hugo Blick, one of the creators and stars of spoof police documentary Operation Good Guys.

And it will be made by independent production house Baby Cow, the company set up by Steve Coogan and comedy writre Henry Normal, broadcast industry website produxion.com reports.
