Comic becomes a father

David Baddiel has become a father for the first time.

His girlfriend, comedy actress Morwenna Banks gave birth to a baby girl on Friday, it was announced today.

The couple, both 37, have not yet chosen a name for their daughter but were both "delighted" with the birth. Both mother and daughter are doing well.

Baddiel met Banks, who starred in Absolutely, at a showbiz party two years ago, and the couple recently appeared on screen together in the Sky One sitcom Baddiel's Syndrome.
