Star joins Fringe talent hunt

Steve Coogan is to judge the final of the So You Think You're Funny? competition.

The Alan Partridge star is to visit the Edinburgh Festival on August 26 to join the panel to decide the winner of the Channel 4-backed competition for new comedy talent.

Other judges include TV executives and Karen Koren, artistic director of the Gilded Balloon, the venue which hosts the competition.

The last semi-final takes place tonight to determine who fills the remaining places at the final, which will be hosted by Graham Norton.

His name on the bill ensured the event sold out within two days of tickets going on sale.

The juding panel always includes a celebrity member. Last year it was Gail Porter.
