Favourite characters to be axed

Some of the best-loved characters from Goodness Gracious Me are to be pensioned off.

Star Ninia Wadia says favourites such as Bhangra Man, Smeet Smitten Showbiz Kitten and The Kapoors have run their course, and will not be returning.

And she claimed that the fourth series, not due to be filmed until next May, should go out on BBC1.

She told The Stage: "You get to a point where you are a bit bored as actors. In the next series we will be doing new things with new writers.

"I have a feeling it might well go on BBC1. I think it needs that kind of push."
