The Odyssey

Gorman's quest out in paperback

A book detailing Dave Gorman's 24,000-mile quest to track down his namesakes is to be published in September.

Are You Dave Gorman?, co-written with his flatmate Danny Wallace, is published by Random House imprint Ebury on September 6.

Gorman promises that the paperback is not just "cobbled together" from the scripts of the BBC2 show that sprang from his journey.

He says: "It's a proper book with lots of words and not very many pictures."
It will detail aspects of the story - which started out as a live show for last year's

Edinburgh Festival - that could not be included in the TV show, including Wallace's version of events.

Dave added: "We hope that people who haven't seen the show will enjoy reading it and people who have will discover even more."

During their six-month global odyssey, the pair were caught in a tornado in New York, they lost their shoes in Norway, caused a security alert at an Israeli airport and made front-page news in Denmark, a country they'd never visited.

The pair will make a number of appearances to promote the book. Dates at Banbury, Walthamstow, Birmingham, Manchester, Nottingham and central London have been confirmed, and are posted on Gorman's website.
